We’re calling the council members directly involved in city budget negotiations and asking them to restore critical funding for NYC Parks.
We invite you to make calls anytime from now through June 30th.

30-Second Script:
“Hello, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent [AND/OR] I’m calling because the council member is on the Budget Negotiation Team and has the opportunity to support New York City’s parks in this year’s city budget.
I urge the council member to push the mayor to save and baseline 276 Parks jobs that will be lost in June. And I urge the council member to commit council funding for an additional 276 parks positions needed to ensure our parks are safe, clean and green.
Our parks need gardeners, PEP officers, city parks workers and more. We need the mayor and the council to work together towards fulfilling the 1% for Parks commitment.
Thank you for your time, and I hope the council member will stand up for parks.”
Tips:
Call on a weekday during council office hours (9am-5pm) for best results!
No answer? Leave a voicemail! You can also email them following this formula using their district number in the chart above: “districtXX@council.nyc.gov” (e.g. district1@council@nyc.gov, district38@council.nyc.gov)
If asked “do you live in the district?” If so, say yes, but if not, you can say “I don’t live in the district but given the Council Member’s citywide role on the Budget Negotiation Team, I feel they are representing all of us and felt it was important to reach out.”
Feel free to personalize this script and share what budget restorations would mean for your community and your local park.
Below are the phone numbers of council members on the Budget Negotiation Team (BNT). All are important to call, but those marked with an asterisk (*) are a priority. If your council member is on BNT, they should be considered a priority as well.
