Advocates are sounding the alarm over the the mayor's latest round of budget cuts, saying the city's Department of Parks and Recreation is poised to lose more than 1,400 employees.

The department's cleaning workforce is also being scaled back after the elimination of a program under a separate agency, the Human Resources Administration.

Advocates say the Parks Opportunity Program helps provide essential maintenance workers.

One advocate said this week that the cuts could set back city parks for years to come and will most negatively impact New York families who depend on parks.

Adam Ganser, the executive director of New Yorkers for Parks, an independent citywide research and advocacy organization that promotes quality parks and open space for New Yorkers, joined host Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Tuesday night to discuss the recent budget cuts.
