New Yorkers for Parks is preparing for the 2010 Daffodil Project distributions. We are looking forward to seeing all of our community partners again at this fall’s distributions in each of the 5 boroughs. Please note that online bulb registration will start on this website on Wednesday, September 8th. Bulb requests will not be accepted before this date. If you are planning on requesting a larger number of bulbs for your community group, please click on the “About the Project” page and read the description of the Bulb Brigade, the Daffodil Project’s new volunteer group. We would love to have our volunteers help your group plant and maintain your site! During fall 2009, we distributed more than 125,000 bulbs to hundreds of volunteers in all five boroughs, ensuring that daffodil enthusiasts received flowers to plant in public spaces. To continue our youth efforts, we provided seven schools with daffodil bulbs, volunteers, trowels, and gloves to help engage them in the beautification of their schools and neighborhood parks. To our delight, the demand for free daffodil bulbs continues to grow. A huge hand clap for our marvelous volunteers and community groups; NYC Department of Parks & Recreation; New York City Council; Council on the Environment NYC; Partnerships for Parks; and our sponsors ConEdison, Ernst & Young, MetLife Foundation, B&K Flowerbulbs, Zipcar, Hudson Realty Capital and Godiva Chocolatier. Additional support was provided by Greenacre Foundation. |
