Each spring, New Yorkers for Parks hosts the Daffodil Project Photo Contest to help document the nearly 4 million daffodils in bloom all over the city thanks to the hard work of the volunteers of the Daffodil Project. The contest is open to all amateur photographers, gardeners, and New Yorkers who love their parks. This year our Daffodil Project Photo Contest was a great success, with over 60 entries from around the five boroughs. All entries were posted on New Yorkers for Parks’ Facebook page to show the variety of both the blooms and the parks where they were planted. Fans of New Yorkers for Parks were invited to vote on their favorite image, and those votes, along with content and artistic value, helped to decide the winners. To see all of the beautiful entries, head over to New Yorkers for Parks’ Facebook page. Grand prize winner: Rodney Bedsole, who took his beautiful image on 42nd Street in Manhattan. Rodney won signed copies of Governors Island: The Jewel of New York Harbor by Ann L. Buttenwieser and Parks, Plants and People: Beautifying the Urban Landscape by Lynden B. Miller. His winning photo will be used as the official image of the Daffodil Project next year. Honorable Mention winner: Niurka Garcia, who took her photo at Metropolitan Oval, in the Bronx, won a New Yorkers for Parks T-shirt and tote bag Honorable Mention winner: Fred Castner, who took his photo in Isham Park, Manhattan, won a New Yorkers for Parks T-shirt and tote bag |
