Why do we need a Campaign for Parks?

The overall objective of the Parks 2009 Campaign is to introduce and garner support for a comprehensive parks platform for candidates running for office in 2009 that will significantly improve New York City’s parks. The Parks 2009 Campaign will mobilize our citywide parks coalition to gain attention from citizens, community groups, and elected officials regarding the need for additional funding, staffing, and management reform for the Parks Department.

• Protect parkland from alienation
• Secure long-term funding for parks

• Park Forums in all five boroughs
• Report Release Events
