MissionNew Yorkers for Parks is the independent organization fighting for greener, cleaner and safer parks in all five boroughs. We provide the tools that help communities build better parks for better neighborhoods. Great parks make a great city. New Yorkers for Parks achieves its purpose through an integrated framework of advocacy, research and a coalition of parks, open space, recreation, advocacy and civic organizations. Guiding Principles and BeliefsParks and open space are essential to continuous renewal of the quality of life in an urban environment. Well-designed and well-maintained parks and open space should be readily available and accessible to all New Yorkers. Protection of public parks and open space from alienation for private use is essential to preserve the availability of these indispensable resources. Parks and open space–available for both active and passive use—are critical to addressing the urban challenges of public health, public safety and community development. Parks are an essential public service and as such should be primarily funded by public dollars. 2009 AccomplishmentsView NY4P's 2009 Accomplishments. Annual ReportView NY4P's 2007 Annual Report.
