New Yorkers for Parks presented the NY4P Legacy Award to former Central Park Conservancy Chairman and Weil, Gotshal & Manges Senior Partner Ira M. Millstein and former NYC Parks Commissioner Henry J. Stern before a rollicking crowd of more than 350 in Midtown Manhattan on October 18.

We also honored Alicia Glen, Managing Director of the Urban Investment Group at Goldman Sachs, with the inaugural NY4P Urban Leader Award.

The event featured tribute videos to Millstein and Stern, along with Parktinis – our signature gin cocktail.

“Park advocacy in New York City is a big job, and it doesn’t happen magically,” Millstein told the crowd in his acceptance speech.  “There must be advocacy to the government, and advocacy neighborhood-by-neighborhood to engender support and a sense of ownership for their people’s park wherever it is. This is no mean feat.  That is my experience and that’s the challenge.  And it is what NY4P is all about.”
